Pigs

Why does it hurt to love when you become a believer?

It is like the scene in the animated Myosaki film, "Spirited Away," when the little 10 year old girl and her parents happen upon a food court of sorts filled with delicious looking and s...melling food and no attendees. The parents resolve to pay when the workers show up and sit down to eat. They proceed to make complete pigs of themselves, debasing themselves as they greedily fill their plates and their bellies, and they actually become the low creatures they are acting like. She tries to warn them, but they have no idea there is anything wrong with their behavior, and they grunt at her in irritation and continue pigging out. When it is over, they are pigs and are being herded away from the food court into pens with the other pigs. All their daughter can do is watch in horror, her heart breaking for them.

That is what watching the world is like for a believer. Oh to be sure, you used to be one of the ones debasing and engorging yourself at the worldly buffet of sin, but the Lord came and plucked you out, giving you eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that loves like His. Now you get to watch as loved ones, strangers, and pretty much everyone, debases themselves. You try to warn them, but they laugh and jeer, call you crazy and can even become violent if you persist. They have no idea there is anything wrong with them or their behavior. They think you are the one who is wrong. In the end, all you can do is pray for them, but your heart doesn't stop loving them. It loves them more than ever.

And it hurts to watch, not knowing if they will ever turn to the Lord and be saved.
